Emerson Process Management (Emerson) said in a press release Thursday it has introduced a remote fuel consumption and bunkering monitoring system to help shipping companies manage their fuel costs.

Emerson said they have collaborated with Singapore based Ascenz Pte Ltd (Ascenz) who supply remote fuel consumption and bunker monitoring systems for shipping companies.

According to the press release, the system delivers "highly accurate fuel usage and bunkering data from moving ships" to a land-based shipping company's control office, where previously there has been "virtually no way" to get fuel consumption data from moving vessels

"Customers can gain real-time insight into the ship’s operations," Emerson said.

Data capture of fuel consumption and bunkering data is achieved using Emerson Micro Motion® Coriolis flow measurement technology.

Mr. Chia Yoong Hui, co-founder and CEO of Ascenz Pte Ltd, said, "The collaboration with Emerson is an ideal way to provide customers with the data they need to improve their operations."
