New Bunker Service Begins in Puerto Rico
US-based Ches Bunker Services, LLC (Ches Bunker Services) and oil products player Novum Energy (Novum) have joined forces to offer a new bunker service in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico, Ches Bunker Services' Managing Director Antonio Rosas has told Ship & Bunker.
Yabucoa, located near the southeastern corner of the island, is home to a facility operated by Buckeye Global Marine Terminals where the company says it offers over 4 million barrels of storage for crude oil, fuel oil, and refined products.
Novum is handling the physical supply side of the new bunker service, offering bunkers ex-pipe from its leased storage and blending facilities.
Ches Bunker Services is acting as a broker for the new service and handling most enquiries for Yabucoa.
"With today's difficult market conditions we need to look for new opportunities that help our customers, and offering bunkers in Yabucoa is a good example of how we can do this," Rosas told Ship & Bunker.
"Customers can now load bunkers while working cargo. This will grant huge cost savings for customers during a time when many are struggling to stay in the black."
Rosas says both RMG 380 cSt and 0.10 percent LSMGO products are being offered to ISO8217:2010 specification.
"Novum are fuel oil players in the Caribbean and have a good position to offer competitive pricing," said Rosas.
Founded in 2015, Ches Bunker Services also offers bunkers throughout the Americas.
"We are not only broking for this operation in Yabucoa but we are able to offer bunker service at every port in the US, Central Americas, South America, and Canada," Rosas added.
Rosas has been in the industry for some 30 years, having previously held bunker positions with PDVSA Petroleos de Venezuela S.A., GAC Group, and Integr8 Fuels Inc.
