MOL Signs LNG Bunkering Deal with Seaspan Energy for Car Carriers
Japanese shipping firm MOL has signed an annual bunkering deal with Canada-based Seaspan Energy to supply LNG to its car carriers at the Port of Vancouver in Canada.
The first bunkering operation under the contract was completed on April 29, MOL said in a statement on its website on Thursday.
MOL added that the agreement supports efforts to secure a stable LNG fuel supply for its expanding fleet of LNG-fuelled car carriers operating on North American trade routes.
The company has carried out several LNG bunkering operations on the west coast of North America since completing its first such operation in the region in March 2025.
“MOL was the first car carrier operator to receive LNG bunkering services in the Port of Vancouver, and we are proud to continue supporting their operations in Vancouver through this annual LNG bunkering agreement,” Harly Penner, president of Seaspan Energy, said.
Going forward, the companies may explore collaboration in bio-LNG supply as well.
