Bunkers sales in Panama for July have jumped 4.3% year-on-year to 329,647 metric tonnes (mt), according to the latest provisional data from the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).

The total for all products is some 17.1% higher than the 281,359 mt reported as sold in the period for 2015.

The July 2017 total consisted of 306,097 mt in fuel oil sales and 23,550 mt of distillates.

287,426 mt of that total was sold in the port of Balboa on the country's Pacific coast, while the Atlantic coast with the port of Cristobal supplied 42,221 mt.

Despite the increase in volume sold, the number of stems fell 22% to 393 compared to the 425 operations performed in July 2016.

The performance puts year-to-date sales in Panama at 2,538,457 mt, 19.6% higher than the same seven month period last year.
