China's CIMC Enric has designed large-capacity liquefied natural gas (LNG) tanks intended to support the uptake of LNG as fuel, including bunkers, Chinese media reports.
The new 40 foot containers, which enable the multi-modal transfer of LNG, are noted to have recently passed U.S. security tests.
CIMC Enric is also reported to have completed sea trials of a 14,000 cubic metre (cbm) LNG feeder carrier, which features two independent 7,000 cbm liquid cargo tanks.
The cargo tanks are noted to have been designed and constructed under supervision of the China Classification Society (CCS).

"Once this mode of transportation is launched and widely accepted, a lot of wasted offshore natural gas will be saved," said Yang Baoying, deputy general manager at CIMC Enric.
Last month, as part of China's push toward LNG bunkers, China LNG Group Limited (China LNG) announced that it had signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Chu Kong Shipping Enterprises (Holdings) Co., Ltd. (Chu Kong Shipping) to support the development of LNG bunkering in the Pearl River Delta (PRD).
