V.O. Chidambaranar Port Authority in Tuticorin, southern India, held a methanol bunkering training session ahead of a planned pilot operation.
The session involved personnel from the port’s traffic, marine, mechanical, fire & safety and SOPAN teams, the port said in a social media post on Friday.
It included a live demonstration and mock drills at the methanol bunkering site, giving staff practical experience in safe handling procedures and operational preparedness.
The port said the training was part of preparations for the upcoming methanol bunkering pilot.
V.O. Chidambaranar Port is one of India’s three Green Hydrogen Hub ports.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening the port’s green marine fuels capabilities and supporting the shipping sector’s move towards cleaner fuels.
