A methanol dual-fuel container ship operated by Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) has bunkered green methanol at Yantian Port in China ahead of its maiden commercial voyage.
The OOCL Grace received 983 mt of bonded green methanol at Yantian Port on October 29, LU Shengwei Raymond, senior business development manager of CIMC Green Energy Technology, said in a LinkedIn post last week.
The fuel was supplied by CIMC Green Energy Technology, a subsidiary of Chinese energy equipment firm CIMC Enric, from its production base in Zhanjiang.
The bunkering was carried out by the bunker vessel Daqing 268, operated by Sinobunker.
The 24,168 TEU ship is one of the world’s largest methanol dual-fuel container ships.
CIMC Enric said it plans to work with supply chain partners to expand green methanol bunkering in the Greater Bay Area.
