The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) says 24 vessels and 120 people have been deployed to contain and clean oil from Singapore waters after two ship collisions this week.

As of Friday, most affected areas have been cleaned up, with minor oil patches remaining around the Southern Islands.

Both MPA and oil spill response companies are involved in the efforts, and the MPA continues to monitor the waters to look for undetected oil.

Vessel traffic and port operations have not been affected by the spills.

The collisions occurred south of Jurong Island on Wednesday and in the East Keppel Fairway Thursday.

Both incidents resulted in bunker spills from the tanks of containerships, but neither resulted in serious damage to any vessel and no injuries were reported.
