The International Green Shipping Corridor Alliance (IGSCA) was officially established in Beijing on Tuesday, with 45 founding members from 12 countries.

It was jointly launched by the China Center for Sustainable Transport Innovation and Knowledge, COSCO Shipping Group, CMA CGM, China Energy Engineering Corporation and Shanghai Port Group.

IGSCA aims to provide an international platform for cooperation on green shipping corridors and support the development of sustainable shipping.

The alliance will work on areas including green ships, green fuels and net-zero ports, as well as the alignment of domestic rules with international standards.

It will also support demonstration projects, technology research and development, technology transfer and capacity building.

China Energy Engineering Corporation said the alliance is intended to help promote cooperation across the international shipping industry and support the development of green shipping corridors.
