Durban Bunker Prices Firm on Rising Crude Values: Sources
Friday November 3, 2017
Rising crude values have pu pressure on bunker prices with Durban with reporting a $10 per metric tonne (mt) increase for fuel oil and distillate grades over the week.
The price of 180 centistoke (cst) fuel oil in the South African port was in $375-385/mt range Friday, market sources said.
"The crazy jump in oil in the last few days has had knock-on effect on the fuel prices," a Durban-based bunker source told Ship & Bunker.
Availability is good and demand has been strong, the source added. Shipowners have been keen to stem bunkers mindful that there could be further prices hikes ahead.
Ship & Bunker showed the price of 180 CST at Durban moving upwards Thursday with the grade pegged at $370.50/mt an addition of $3.50 on the day.
