Bunker and Lubricant Sales at Rotterdam See 8.2% Q1 Slide

The Port of Rotterdam Authority says bunker and lubricant sales at the port dropped by 8.2 percent year on year to 2.48 million cubic metres (cbm) during this year's Q1, Platts reports.
Fuel oil sales at the port fell to 2.06 million cbm, declining by 8.1 percent in the quarter compared to the same period of 2016.
Meanwhile, MGO and MDO sales fell to 391,647 cbm, marking a 8.5 percent year on year fall in Q1, while lubricant sales dropped by 6.8 percent year on year to 25,603 cbm.
In March, Ship & Bunker reported that some industry sources had suggested that Rotterdam's decline in bunker sales volumes during the 2016 year could be attributed to price competition and ongoing difficulties in the shipping market.
