Milan-based Edison S.p.A (Edison) is planning to build a liquefied natural gas (LNG) storage and bunkering facility on Italy's Northeastern coast, Interfax reports.

Specifically, Edison is said to be looking to build a 20,000 cubic metre (cbm) facility at the Ravenna harbour in the Emilia-Romagna region.

The facility, which the company plans to have in operation by 2020, is said to be intended to support Italy's position in the small-scale LNG market.

The project, set to be owned as a joint venture between Edison and PIR Group, is said to be the first project of its kind planned for the country's Adriatic coast.
