Aegean Marine Petroleum Network Inc. [NYSE: ANW] (Aegean) today announced the opening of a bunker trading office in Dubai.

The operation begins with a team of two experienced bunker traders with the support of one operational assistant, the company noted.

"We are pleased to confirm that Aegean has a bunker trading team in Dubai which will boost our relationship with customers and suppliers in the Middle East and Indian sub-continent," said Jonathan Mcilroy, Bunker Trading Manager at Aegean.

"The group has a long history in Fujairah and Khor Fakkan as a physical supplier and adding a back-to-back trading team is the next step in expanding our market presence with clients in the region."

Aegean's trading team in Dubai includes Sherin Sheriff (Trading Manager, Middle East) and Hany Saad (Supply Manager, Middle East).

"Sherin and Hany are both very experienced and are well-known bunker traders throughout the Middle East. Aegean is happy to welcome them to the team and we look forward to growth in the region," the company added.

Sheriff was said to have 20 years bunker trading experience having previously worked for companies including World Fuels Corp and Peninsula Petroleum, while Saad has been in the industry for 7 years and worked at Cockett Marine Oil and Peninsula Petroleum prior to joining Aegean.

The Dubai office is the second announcement of new operations for Aegean in recent weeks, following the launch last month of a new service center in Savannah, Georgia.
