Wagenborg Orders Four Fuel-Flexible Wartsila Engines
Dutch shipping company Royal Wagenborg has signed an agreement with engine maker Wartsila for four new fuel-flexible main engines.
The engines will be installed on four next-generation EasyMax 2.0 vessels, Wagenborg said in a LinkedIn post yesterday.
The vessels will run on conventional marine fuels when delivered but will be suitable for conversion to methanol, LNG or ammonia propulsion, according to Wagenborg’s website.
The agreement was signed during SMM in Hamburg and builds on a long-standing partnership between the two companies.
Around 90 Wartsila engines are currently in operation across Wagenborg's fleet, the company said.
The new engines are part of Wagenborg's fleet renewal programme as the company looks to prepare its vessels for future fuel options.
