It was a light day in trading news as most of the US was mesmerized by the solar eclipse that traveled coast to coast.

However oil prices fell as eyes, hopefully protected by solar shades, went skyward.

The market spent the day easing off of a 3% gain witnessed on Friday after the number of oil rigs fell last week.

Technical traders and algorithms seized an opportunity with little market news pulling oil in either direction.

Bunker prices were softer in the primary ports.
