Yara Marine Technologies (Yara Marine) has been awarded a contract with the Toll Group's (Toll) subsidiary Toll Shipping for the supply of hybrid scrubber systems on two of the shipping company's RoRo vessels.

"We are happy to see Toll’s commitment to the environment and their focus on crew safety is apparent in the system design they have chosen for the vessels," said Peter Strandberg, CEO at Yara Marine.

The vessels, which operate on the Australian coast, will feature two 10.2 MW MAN engines, with one scrubber installed for each.

"For Toll it is important that our two new vessels not only provide us with 40 percent more capacity, but also allow us to improve safety for our people and deliver a better outcome for the environment," said Tony Stewart, group general manager at Toll Shipping.

The first of the two vessels, which has work already underway, is expected to be delivered in 2018.

In March, Ship & Bunker reported that Saga Cruises had also signed an agreement with Yara Marine for the supply of exhaust gas scrubber systems to their latest newbuilding, with the option for the supply to a second vessel as well.
