French shipping company CMA CGM has taken delivery of another LNG dual-fuel container ship.

The 24,212 TEU ship, CMA CGM Orsay, is part of a series of ten vessels, the firm said in a LinkedIn post yesterday.

“With a capacity of 24,212 TEU, she follows CMA CGM NOTRE DAME and CMA CGM PANTHEON as part of a series of ten vessels whose names pay tribute to French heritage,” the company added.

The delivery comes days after CMA CGM took delivery of CMA CGM Alceste, a 15,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship this week.

LNG is seen as a more more mature and widely available marine fuel than methanol.

However, methane slip reduces its climate benefits. Bio-LNG offers a cleaner option and can be used in existing LNG-fuelled ships.

CMA CGM Orsay will operate on a route connecting Asia and Europe.
