Gazprom Neft Marks Production of New Brand of ECA-Compliant Bunkers
Gazprom Neft says the first batch of a new emission control area (ECA)-compliant marine fuel - which has a sulfur content of no more than 0.1 percent - was been produced at the company's Omsk Refinery.
The new brand formulation includes an additive to reduce cold-flow temperature and prevent wax settlement in the fuel.
The company notes that sales of the new brand will be handled by Gazpromneft Marine Bunker.
"Production of this new marine fuel has been made possible through a project involving the reconstruction of commercial production facilities, implemented as part of the Omsk Refinery's thoroughgoing modernisation programme," said Gazprom Neft, noting a total investment in the project of RUB200 million ($3.5 million).
"The Omsk Refinery plans to ship up to 50,000 tonnes of environmentally friendly marine fuel by the end of this year. Market potential is estimated at 158,000 tonnes per year."
