Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. (MOL) has announced the delivery of the dual-fuel diesel-electric liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier CESI Beihai - the third ship in a six-vessel series.

CESI Beihai, which was ordered through a joint venture of MOL, China COSCO Shipping Corporation Limited (China COSCO Shipping), and China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (SINOPEC), was delivered on Thursday at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd. (Hudong) in Shanghai.

The new vessel is set to sail under a long-term charter, transporting LNG purchased by SINOPEC from the Australia Pacific LNG project.

"MOL strives to meet expanding and diversified transport needs associated with growing worldwide demand for LNG by leveraging the experience accumulated in international joint projects, while providing value-added transport services to customers around the world," said MOL.

The remaining three vessels in the newbuild dual-fuel series are slated for delivery in succession by 2018.
