The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA), the Research Council of Norway (RCN) and the Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI) have launched a joint research grant to develop solutions to reduce emissions from international shipping.
The grant will support research into alternative marine fuels and bunkering infrastructure, vessel energy efficiency and digital technologies to improve shipping operations, MPA said in a press release on Thursday.
The Singapore Maritime Institute will provide up to SGD 2.7 million for Singapore-based research partners, while RCN will make available up to NOK 20 million for Norwegian partners.
Selected projects can receive funding for up to four years.
Each proposal must involve research institutions and industry partners from both countries.
This is the third joint research grant call between Singapore and Norway, following earlier rounds in 2015 and 2018.
Applications open on December 2, 2026, and close on January 20, 2027.
