Ferus Smit Launches Bunker-Saving ECOBOX DP2 Vessel

Dutch shipbuilder Ferus Smit says it launched the bunker-saving Symphony Provider, the second in a series of two ECOBOX DP2 vessels to be delivered to Symphony Shipping, on Thursday.
The vessel is noted to feature a Ferus Smit ECO bulbless Canoe type bow to reduce fuel costs and better sustain speed, providing "excellent sea keeping behavior" through harsh weather and sea conditions.
"As add-on compared to the already delivered ECOBOX design, these ships are equipped with a DP2 (Dynamic Positioning) system which keeps the vessel within an exact position or heading limits, even in the most severe wind and wave conditions," explains Ferus Smit.
