Singapore Arrests Two Italian Vessels

Italian shipping firm Rizzo Bottiglieri De Carlini Armatori SPA (RBD Armatori) has had two of its vessels arrested in Singapore over debts of around $4.7 million, a lawyer handling the case has told Reuters.

Data from Singapore's Supreme Court shows the Adele Marina Rizzo, a 109,000 dwt crude oil tanker was arrested on August 7, 2012.

The 178,000 dwt dry bulk carrier Cavaliere Grazia Bottiglieri was also reported to have been arrested.

Kevin Kwek, a Singapore-based lawyer for Legal Solutions LLC told said bunker supplier Fratelli Cosulich Hong Kong Limited and agency Madeira Lda were collectively owed "around $4.7 million" and that the lawyers were currently in talks with the ship owners.

In October 2011 RBD Armatori CEO Giuseppe Mauro Rizzo won Entrepreneur of the Year at the Lloyd's List Italian Shipping Awards.
