Engineering company Alfa Laval has agreed to acquire maritime software provider NAVTOR for $700 million (SEK 6.85 billion) in an all-cash transaction.

The acquisition will bring NAVTOR's e-navigation and vessel-performance solutions into Alfa Laval's digital portfolio, alongside its existing StormGeo and PortChain platforms, it said in an emailed statement on Friday.

NAVTOR provides software for vessel navigation, performance monitoring and onboard workflows.

Founded in 2011, the company employs around 400 people across 13 offices and serves customers in more than 90 countries.

NAVTOR will become part of Alfa Laval's Ocean Division.

The deal is expected to close in the first quarter of 2027, subject to regulatory approvals.

Alfa Laval said the acquisition would be funded through a combination of existing cash and funding programmes.

The transaction is expected to be neutral to the group's margin in the short term.
