Deltamarin Thursday announced that it has partnered with First Choice Carbon to assist shipowners in ensuring compliance with the European Union's (EU) Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) regulation.

As Ship & Bunker has previously reported, the MRV regulation will require shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of the August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.

"We are ready to support ship owners and operators who are required to take several actions in the coming months to comply with the regulation," said Deltamarin.

"All necessary management-related and administrative tasks to comply with the EU MRV system can be offered."

Deltamarin says services provided will specifically include assistance in the preparation and submission of monitoring plans and annual emissions reports, annual review and modification of monitoring plans, and verification of the monitoring plans and annual emissions reports by an accredited verifier for a preferential fee.

The company also notes that the new service offering will provide clients with a single point of contact with the authorities for MRV compliance questions.

With August 31 marking the first compliance deadline, Deltamarin urges shipowners to take steps to check their status now.
