GAC Bunker Fuels Thursday said that its mentoring programme is helping to grow the bunker trading and brokerage firm's business in the face of challenging market conditions.

The programme is said to be intended to develop the career paths of young shipping professionals from the GAC Group, as well as those from outside the group, training them within GAC’s corporate culture.

"We remain committed to strong performance and growth, and a large part of that is embodied in the incubation of strong talent that helps us succeed, even in times of adversity," said Nicholas Browne, GAC Bunker Fuels' Director.

"Our new generation of bunker traders is a credit to the company, and is now moving to new office locations as they learn more about the integrated value GAC delivers for clients."

Browne says that clients are the direct beneficiaries of the mentoring programme, which he notes is aimed at fostering ethical and operationally excellent bunker traders that are both knowledgeable of the industry and understand GAC's integrated service offering.

In late July, GAC Brazil announced the opening of a seventh office offering bunkering and other shipping and marine logistics services.
