Avenir LNG Bunkers Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship with LNG in Honduras
LNG bunker supplier Avenir LNG has completed its first LNG bunkering delivery to Royal Caribbean Group’s cruise ship in Honduras.
The bunkering of Icon of the Seas was carried out by Avenir LNG’s bunkering vessel Avenir Advantage - its first LNG bunker delivery to the cruise ship, the firm said in a LinkedIn post today.
Avenir LNG said the operation demonstrates the flexibility and reach of small-scale LNG infrastructure across the Caribbean, supporting the cruise industry’s transition towards lower-emission marine fuels.
Axpo Group, the vessel’s crew, shore teams, port stakeholders and other partners were involved in the operation.
The delivery adds to Avenir LNG’s LNG bunkering activities in the Caribbean, as cruise operators increasingly turn to LNG as a marine fuel.
Royal Caribbean Group’s Icon of the Seas entered service in 2024 and is powered by LNG.
Avenir LNG said it looks forward to supporting further safe and reliable LNG deliveries in the region.
