Deltamarin Ltd. (Deltamarin) says the application of its new smart simulation tool provides a fuel cost savings potential of 3-6 percent.

"Reducing operating costs is one of the main concerns of shipping industry today. To help ship owners and operators boost the energy efficiency of their vessels, Deltamarin has since day one strongly focused on Energy and Environmental Efficiency (EEE)," says the company.

Deltamarin notes that the EEE ship design process includes several dimensions, including practical design tools for modelling the energy consumption, a follow-up method of the performance indicators, and useful project practices that enable the implementation of design ideas and results.

"Energy flow modelling is at the heart of the EEE work, and Deltamarin has recently developed a new-generation design tool for this purpose," explains the company.

"The tool itself is a highly flexible, dynamic simulation platform at system level that can accept data in almost any format and at various levels of precision. Such flexibility is required, since the energy models are configured for various purposes."

In May, Deltamarin announced that Iceland's Eimskipafélag Íslands HF (Eimskip) and Greenland's Royal Arctic Line A/S (Royal Arctic Line) had ordered the first three container vessels based on Deltamarin's energy-efficient cargo ship design family.
