Panama Posts 25% Rise in Bunker Sales Over Last 2 Years

Panama's bunker sales volumes has risen some 25 percent over the last two years, according to the latest preliminary data from The Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).

Bunker sales for all products in 2016 totalled 4,009,262 metric tonnes (mt), an 8 percent rise compared to the 3,718,438 mt sold in 2015, and a significant 25 percent jump over the 3,199,508 mt said to have been sold in 2014.

2016's sales consisted of 3,125,289 mt of sales in Balboa on the Pacific side of the Canal (2,937,111 mt of fuel oil and 188,178 mt of distillate), and 883,973 mt was sold in Cristobal on the Atlantic side of the Canal (799,629 mt of fuel oil and 84,344 mt of distillate).
