Rosmorport is seeking to build a 3,000 to 5,000 cbm liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering tanker, PortNews IAA reports.

Vladimir Shtrambrand, head of Rosmorport's Fleet Construction and Development Department, announced the news on Monday in Saint-Petersburg at the Second International Conference "Advanced port fleet - the basis of safety."

Shtrambrand said the tanker will be built at the Onezhsky shipyard, with the hull of unfinished tanker, Project RST22, to be used for construction.

Rosmorport, which notes that it will not perform bunkering activities itself, says it is in negotiations with three undisclosed bunker supplying companies, and is close to signing an agreement under the project.
