Verifavia Shipping (Verifavia) today announced that it now has more than 1,000 ships and Monitoring Plans (MPs) under assessment for compliance with the European Union's (EU's) Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) regulation.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, the MRV regulation requires shipping companies to submit ship-specific monitoring plans to verifiers for approval by the end of August 2017, with per-voyage monitoring set to start on January 1, 2018.

Verifavia says it is currently working with about 60 shipping companies with 1,052 ships, and has certified EU MRV solutions and systems for 16 ICT providers.

"We feel proud and honoured that so many shipping companies have entrusted Verifavia to ensure a smooth EU MRV verification process," said Julien Dufour, CEO of Verifavia Shipping.

"Verifavia remains committed to working collaboratively with ship owners and operators to achieve EU MRV compliance in an efficient, timely, and cost-efficient manner."

In April, Ship & Bunker reported that Verifavia had received certifications as an EU MRV verifier from both Cofrac and the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
