ABS today announced that it has launched Nautical Systems NS Voyage Manager, a new cloud-based compliance software module that captures and manages data - including bunker delivery notes - to support environmental compliance with a range of environmental regulations, such as the European Union (EU) Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) regulation.

"With EU MRV already in effect and additional regulations on the horizon, such as the International Maritime Organization's (IMO's) Data Collection System requirement, operators need an easy way to manage the increasing volume of data required for reporting," said Howard Fireman, ABS Chief Technology Officer and ABS Nautical Systems President.

"NS Voyage Manager is deployed quickly and accurately to collect data that supports regulatory compliance."

The new software brings together data collected for noon reports or through the NS AutoLogger in the NS database, to automate and simplify the compliance reporting process.

NS AutoLogger takes data directly from sensors and ship systems, at which point the data can expanded to support other operational activities, including performance management.

"Including the NS AutoLogger with NS Voyage Manager substantially improves data accuracy and reduces the reporting burdens on the crew," said Stephen Schwarz, ABS Nautical Systems Chief Operating Officer and Vice President.

"This new module is also flexible and can be expanded and customized based on any operator's requirements."

The NS Voyage Manager is also noted to support other environmental compliance activities, including ballast water exchange, fuel switching for emission control area (ECA) compliance, garbage record book, oil record book, vessel general permit (VGP), and IMO DCS.

In February, ABS announced that it had become the first class society to earn EU MRV accreditation after Greece's national accreditation body, the Hellenic Accreditation System (ESYD) awarded the company approval to perform assessments for EU MRV compliance.
