MI and Green Marine Partner on Methanol Training
MI - The Global Methanol Alliance and Green Marine have agreed to work together on methanol training and safety guidance for the shipping industry.
More than 150 methanol-capable vessels are operating worldwide, with over 290 on order, Green Marine said in a press release last week.
The partnership will focus on crew training, bunkering procedures, fuel handling and emergency preparedness.
The two organisations will also develop policy papers and technical bulletins to help shipowners, ports and fuel suppliers address the practical challenges of using methanol as a marine fuel.
MI will contribute its industry knowledge and policy expertise, while Green Marine will draw on its experience in maritime engineering, operations and training.
“As methanol’s use in shipping grows, safe and reliable operations will be essential to its long-term success,” Alexander Döll, CEO of MI – The Global Methanol Alliance, said.
“Our members are investing in production, supply, and bunkering infrastructure, but those investments also depend on customers having the confidence to use methanol.”
Earlier this year, Methanol Institute rebranded as MI - The Global Methanol Alliance.
