MFM Bunkering Barges Put into Operation by Chimbusco
China Marine Bunker (Petro China) Co., Ltd. (Chimbusco) has announced that it now has mass flow meters (MFMs) in operation on the company's main bunkering barges, which have been deployed on Chinese and international services.
The company says its bunkering barge CHIMBUSCO 36 used MFM for the first time while supplying Shenhua 532, a Shenhuazhonghai Shipping Co., Ltd. (Shenhuazhonghai Shipping) vessel, noting that the operation took an hour to complete, using MFM as the main metering method and measuring cabin as the auxiliary.
During the operation, CHIMBUSCO 36 is said to have supplied 219,877 tonnes of fuel, while Shenhua 532 received 219,677 tonnes, indicating a deviation that was "far lower than national allowable deviation."
Chimbusco says MFMs have also been deployed on its bonded fuel oil bunkering barges, noting that MFM was used when 745 metric tonnes of bonded 380 CST fuel oil was supplied to King Corn on May 22 by CHIMBUSCO 38 at Lanshan Port.
"CHIMBUSCO 36 and CHIMBUSCO 38 successfully made their debut with MFM. The superiority and convenience of MFM for fuel supply was demonstrated sufficiently, allowing CHIMBUSCO to take the lead in domestic fuel supply market," stated the company.
"While setting up a good service image, CHIMBUSCO also perfectly illustrated its operation concept of 'absolute integration of the service with international standard' to the customers, and laid a foundation for promoting the fuel supply with the mass flowmeter in vessels."
In May, Ship & Bunker reported that one third of registered bunker vessels in Singapore, 76 of the 226 total, are now equipped with a Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) approved MFM system, according to MPA records.
