Bureau Veritas S.A. (Bureau Veritas) has granted MSC Cruises' MSC Fantasia a Marine Equipment Directive (MED) Certificate, indicating the 150,000 DWT cruise ship's recently installed exhaust gas cleaning system has passed the relevant MARPOL test, World Maritime News reports.

The certificate is said to indicate that the vessel's exhaust gas scrubber equipment aligns with the EU Marine Equipment Directive requirements.

MSC Fantasia and MSC Preziosa are noted to be the first of the company's fleet to receive the Yara Marine Technologies (Yara) hybrid SOx exhaust gas cleaning systems.

MSC Preziosa is reported to be scheduled for sea trials in the first week of May, and is expected to receive its MED certificate by the middle of June.
