VARD and SINTEF Partner on More Efficient Ships and Systems
Shipbuilder VARD and independent research organisation SINTEF have signed a strategic partnership to develop new technology for more efficient and competitive vessels.
The work will cover ship design, maritime energy and control systems, shipbuilding, deck machinery and artificial intelligence for vessel data, SINTEF said in an announcement on Friday.
The agreement builds on years of cooperation between the two companies and aims to support the maritime industry’s move towards lower emissions, new energy solutions and greater digitalisation.
The partnership will also bring together VARD’s shipbuilding experience and SINTEF’s research expertise to develop solutions based on industry needs.
“The agreement with SINTEF is therefore a fundamental factor, both for VARD and for the continued development of the maritime industry,” Cathrine Kristiseter Marti, CEO of VARD, said.
