Maritime Services Firm in Alaska Joint Venture
U.S. maritime services company Foss Maritime Company (Foss) says it has formed a joint venture with Alaskan offshore spill response company ASRC Energy Services Response Operations LLC (ARO) to seek marine services opportunities in Alaska.
The new firm, AES-Foss Marine LLC, will be based in Anchorage.
"We strive to partner with companies that believe in responsible development and will protect our resources through safety and environmental stewardship," said Jeff Kinneeveauk, president and CEO of ARO's parent company ASRC Energy Services Inc.
"And in that regard Foss certainly is a maritime industry leader. They are also a good partner because they share, respect and understand our Iñupiat cultural values."
AES-Foss Marine will participate in an effort to train members of the indigenous Iñupiat group for jobs in the state's growing maritime industry.
Another mainland U.S. based company, Crowley Maritime Corp., has also been increasing its focus on Alaska with the purchase of two fuel distributors in the state this year.
