Update: Bunkering Resumes at Port of Santos
Petróleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras) Tuesday said in an emailed statement that bunkering operations had resumed at the Port of Santos in Brazil.
"Petrobras would like to inform that the loadings of bunker barges in Santos are being resumed by today and Petrobras is doing its utmost efforts to normalize its operations as soon as possible," the supplier said.
The restart comes a day earlier than expected, with earlier reports indicating operations were to resume on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
Operations were halted last Thursday after a fire broke out at a fuel storage facility operated by Ultracargo.
The cause of the fire is unknown, with several vessels calling on the port having been diverted.
Port representatives have since said that only two out of 53 docks have been affected.
At the time, Petrobras had said that it had been forced to call a Force Majeure on bunkering operations in the port, as the company was not allowed to load bunker barges due to the port authority's decision.
