Bunker sales in Panama have continued show year-on-year improvement, according to the latest data from the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).

Bunker sales in October for all products were 391,030 metric tonnes (mt) and marked the highest monthly sales total since April 2017.

The total was also 14.6% higher than the 341,232 mt sold in October last year.

297,335 mt of the total was sold in Balboa on the country's Pacific coast (276,302 mt fuel oil, 21,033 mt distillate), and 93,695 mt sold on the Atlantic coast with the port of Cristobal (80,888 mt fuel oil, 12,807 mt distillate).

The average stem size was 787 mt, slightly below the 2017 average of 808 mt.

It looks almost inevitable that the port will now best its 2016 annual total of just over 4 million mt sold, with the 2017 volume for the first 10 months of the year now standing at 3,866,551 mt.
