The Panama Canal Authority (ACP) has issued an advisory to all shipping agents, owners, and operators, reminding them of designated bunkering areas in Panama Canal waters.

"The Panama Canal has designated specific anchorages as bunkering areas on the Atlantic
and Pacific terminus of the Canal in order to facilitate monitoring of these activities," explained ACP before listing specific locations.

"Canal Authorities must approve any bunkering operation in areas or locations other than the approved areas listed above prior to scheduling or engaging in the activity," added the authority.

The full advisory can be viewed here.

Last month, Ship & Bunker reported that bunker sales in Panama during the first half of 2017 rose 23.6 percent year-on-year, according to data from the Panama Maritime Authority (AMP).
