Joe Garcia has resigned his position as head of U.S. fuel oil at Mercuria Energy Group Ltd (Mercuria Energy) to move to global energy commodities firm Hartree Partners, LP (Hartree) in June alongside Hartree's expansion in Houston, according to two sources said to be familiar with the matter.

The report by Reuters noted Garcia traded fuel oil in the Gulf Coast region and managed Latin American and Asian exports at Mercuria Energy for six years.

Mercuria is reported to have declined comment on the matter, and Hartree is said to have not immediately responded to a request for comment.

The news comes a year following Oaktree Capital Management's aquistion of Hess Corporation's 50 percent stake in Hess Energy Trading (HETCO), which also led to the HETCO's name change to Hartree Partners, LP.
