The U.S. Coast Guard says it is responding to a bunker spill on the Mobile River near Mt. Vernon, Alabama.

A Parker Towing owned tug vessel is reported to have spilled an estimated 300 to 500 gallons of diesel fuel during bunkering operations near mile marker 36.7, USCG said.

The National Response Center is said to have received a report of the incident at approximately 6:10 p.m. with Coast Guard Sector Mobile Incident Management Division arriving on scene at approximately 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Boom and sorbent material are being used to reduce the spread of oil and collect oil from the water's surface, with 100 gallons of product reported to have been recovered so far.

There are no reports of affected wildlife, and the cause of the incident is under investigation, USCG added.
