The South Korean port of Ulsan has updated its ship incentive scheme for tankers ahead regulatory change in 2020.

Port fees will now be waived for up to 12 hours if a ship takes on a minimum of 250 metric tonnes (mt) of bunker fuel or low sulfur bunker fuel while at the port, according to local business news provider Pulse.

The new scheme, which starts on January 1, aims to promote bunkering at Ulsan and the take up of low sulfur fuel.

Low sulfur bunker fuel has been added to the scheme which was introduced last year.

Ulsan is located on South Korea's southeastern coast.
