The Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering (KRISO) and Korea Maritime Transportation Safety Authority (KOMSA) have signed an agreement to share trial data and remote monitoring technology for eco-friendly ships.
KRISO will provide data from its 2,600-GT K-GTB demonstration vessel, which tests alternative fuels and equipment such as marine batteries, fuel cells and hybrid engines, the firms said in a press release on October 21.
The data will be made available to shipyards and equipment manufacturers through KOMSA’s shore-based monitoring system, allowing them to assess the performance of new technologies in real operating conditions.
The two organisations said the partnership aims to help the domestic shipbuilding and equipment industries adopt cleaner technologies.
