Hong Kong has completed its first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation for a pure car and truck carrier, with 2,600 m3 of fuel delivered to the AICC Fenghuang.

CLPe, a subsidiary of power firm CLP Holdings Limited and CNOOC (Shenzhen) International Marine Clean Energy completed the operation on September 26 at Western Anchorage No. 3, west of Victoria Harbour, CLPe said in an emailed update today.

CNOOC’s LNG bunkering vessel, Haiyang Shiyou 301, supplied the fuel in over approximately six hours.

The 200 m long vessel AICC Fenghuang can carry up to 7,000 vehicles across 12 decks.

The LNG dual-fuel vessel departed for the Mediterranean carrying vehicles exported from mainland China.

The two companies have expanded their LNG bunkering operations in Hong Kong to include very large crude carriers, bulk carriers and car carriers, following their first ship-to-ship LNG bunkering operation involving simultaneous cargo handling in June 2025.
