Trio Sign Agreement to Explore LNG Bunkering at India's Kandla Port
India’s natural gas firm GAIL, Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) and classification society DNV have signed an agreement to explore the development of an LNG bunkering facility at Kandla Port in India.
The tripartite cooperation agreement was signed on August 21 at Kandla, GAIL said in its latest social media post.
The partners will examine LNG bunkering infrastructure, supply chains, safety frameworks and operational requirements.
GAIL will contribute its LNG expertise, while DPA will provide port infrastructure and DNV will support the initiative with technical and maritime safety expertise.
LNG is yet to gain a significant foothold in India’s marine fuel market.
Kandla is also progressing towards developing alternative marine fuels supply and infrastructure in the port.
Earlier this year, the port conducted India’s first methanol bunkering demonstration.
