Little Change for Japan's January Bonded Bunker Sales
January's bonded bunker sales in Japan were up just 0.05 percent year on year to 347,917 kiloliters (2.19 million barrels), Platts reports quoting official data from the country's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
However the sales were 6.1 percent higher than the 327,876 kl sold in December.
January sales of bonded marine diesel oil dipped 0.7 percent year on year to 6,232 kl, down from 6,275 kl last year and 6.6 percent lower month on month.
Market sources were quoted as saying that February's sales were expected to be lower than January as demand was lower due to the Chinese New Year break.
"In China, there were less working days during the month [of February] because of the holiday season," a market source was quoted as saying.
The Chinese New Year break also contributed to a big month-on-month drop for bunker sales in Singapore.
