Italian shipping group Fratelli Cosulich has opened a new office in Tokyo for its Marine Energy bunker trading business.
The office extends the group's international bunker trading network and follows its expansion into South Korea last year, the company said in an emailed press release on Monday.
"Japan is one of the world's most important shipowning markets, and having a direct presence in Tokyo is a significant opportunity for us," said Timothy Cosulich, CEO of Marine Energy at Fratelli Cosulich Group.
"Building relationships locally makes a real difference in our business.
"Following our recent expansion into South Korea, this new office gives us another base in the Far East, allowing us to work more closely with the Japanese maritime community and further develop our bunker trading activities in the region."
Fratelli Cosulich now has Marine Energy offices in 12 countries: Italy, France, Monaco, Portugal, Greece, the UAE, the US, Vietnam, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Korea, and now Japan.
The Seoul office opened in February 2025 with staff drawn from the group's Hong Kong and Singapore operations.
The Marine Energy division posted EBITDA of EUR 16.8 million in 2025, down from EUR 28.1 million the year before.
