Malaysia's Petroliam Nasional Berhad (Petronas) Tuesday signed an agreement with Gas4Sea to identify potential business opportunities and explore a collaboration on the promotion of liquefied natural gas (LNG) as a preferred marine fuel, Reuters reports.

As Ship & Bunker has reported, Gas4Sea is the brand name of the joint global marketing effort and LNG bunkering venture by NYK Line, ENGIE, and Mitsubishi Corporation (Mitsubishi) to promote the use of LNG bunkers.

Petronas says the new agreement with Gas4Sea was signed by its subsidiary Petronas LNG Ltd., as well as the company's shipping affiliate, Malaysia's MISC Berhad.

Last month, Ship & Bunker reported that ENGIE Zeebrugge - hailed as the world's first purpose built LNG bunkering vessel (LBV) - was set to begin operation in support of Gas4Sea.
