The newbuild liquefied natural gas (LNG) bunkering vessel ENGIE Zeebrugge is set to perform its first supply operation within the next few days, TradeWinds reports.

As Ship & Bunker previously reported, ENGIE took delivery of ENGIE Zeebrugge in February - hailing the newbuild as the world's first purpose built LNG bunkering vessel (LBV).

The vessel is reported to have arrived at its home port of Zeebrugge on April 1.

ENGIE Zeebrugge will support Gas4Sea, the ENGIE, Mitsubishi, and NYK joint LNG bunkering venture, which is intended to promote the development of LNG as a marine fuel.

As Ship & Bunker reported in October 2015, Belgium-based Fluxys also announced that it has signed an agreement with ENGIE, Mitsubishi, and NYK to acquire a 25 percent stake in the vessel.
