MPA and China Classification Society Renew Maritime Decarbonisation Partnership
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) and China Classification Society (CCS) have renewed their partnership to advance maritime decarbonisation, digitalisation and talent development.
The renewed MoU was signed during the Sixth North Bund International Shipping Forum in Shanghai, building on a partnership established in 2023, MPA said in an announcement on Tuesday.
Since then, the two organisations have worked with local research and industry partners on projects including the use of B100 biofuel on harbour craft and the testing and verification of smart ships.
Under the renewed agreement, MPA and CCS will expand research into green fuel supply chains, marine electrification and vessel energy efficiency. They will also work on digital testing and risk assessment for autonomous vessels.
The partnership will also support maritime talent development through scholarships, internships and industry attachments, giving students exposure to international maritime companies and industry practices.
